“Beyond all question, the mystery from which true godliness springs is great: He appeared in the flesh, was vindicated by the Spirit, was seen by angels, was preached among the nations, was believed on in the world, was taken up in glory ‘(1 Timothy 3:16 NIV).

It is believed that the words that the apostle Paul wrote regarding the mystery of godliness was a poem or hymn of praise sung by the early community of believers in Jesus the Messiah. They capture in a simple but profound way that which the human mind cannot enter into but that which the Spirit mind bows in awe, joy and praise.  Faith is essential to entering into the mystery.

Jesus Christ came into the word, sent of the Father, as an OBEDIENT Son. “Sacrifice and meal offering You have not desired; My ears You have opened; Burnt offering and sin offering You have not required. Then I said, “Behold, I come; In the scroll of the book it is written of me. I delight to do Your will, O my God; Your Law is within my heart” (Psalm 40:6-8 NASB).

As with Christ Jesus, the hallmark of true sons of the Kingdom of heaven is joyful, instant obedience.

Jesus came as the new order of species in the earth. Everything our Lord Jesus did was the results of unbroken fellowship with his heavenly Father.  “Very truly I tell you, the Son can do nothing by himself; he can do only what he sees his Father doing, because whatever the Father does the Son also does” (John 5:19 NIV).

The apostle Paul gives us further insight. “Therefore, just as through one man sin entered into the world, and death through sin, and so death spread to all men, because all sinned- Nevertheless death reigned from Adam until Moses, even over those who had not sinned in the likeness of the offense of Adam, who is a type of Him who was to come. For as through the one man’s disobedience the many were made sinners, even so through the obedience of the One the many will be made righteous. The Law came in so that the transgression would increase; but where sin increased, grace abounded all the more, so that, as sin reigned in death, even so grace would reign through righteousness to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord”(Romans 5:12, 14, 19-21 NASB).

All that the first son,Adam, brought upon the World order through his disobedience to the heavenly Father, was undone through the perfect obedience of God’s only begotten Son,Jesus Christ, the last Adam.  Hallelujah!  What a mystery of our salvation.

We celebrate the Good News at this Christmas season as we understand God’s gift of mercy in Jesus Christ. “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, being justified as a gift by His grace through the redemption which is in Christ Jesus; whom God displayed publicly as a propitiation in His blood through faith. This was to demonstrate His righteousness, because in the forbearance of God He passed over the sins previously committed; for the demonstration, I say, of His righteousness at the present time, so that He would be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus”(Romans 3:23-26 NASB).   This is the wonder and  majesty of our King and Savior.

As gifts and cards are exchanged this Holiday season don’t forget to share God’s unspeakable gift–Jesus Christ. He is the Good News of Christmas…According to the Scriptures.
